Gap between rich people and poor people in Japan

Since last year, the media said that gap between rich people and poor people in Japan.

Many documentary TV programs about gap between rich people and poor people were broadcasted.
In 1991, Japanese ecomony was worst. Many of young people coudln't to enter the companies because the companies wanted to cost down.

I was shocked that young people can't work as employees and they have to work as part time jobs or temporary. So they can't get money to live. For example, money to rent the apartments. They looks for the jobs every day and they stay at Manga cafes because they don't have money to rent appartments. So they sleep at Manga cafes every night. What do you think?

Is Japan rich??? I don't think so.

Because they don't have any dreams. It is so sad. No hope...

I think everyone need hopes.

I think Japanese government and companies have to change.

Hi Reona
it's interesting because for many years Japan has been viewed in the west as a very successful country regarding business and employment.. and it is not widly reported that things may have been changing. But I think it is similar in other countries too. In the U.K. people are generally lucky with reasonable employment and standards of living but there is still a large gap between rich and poor and there are areas of the country where young people can't find jobs and certainly find property way to expensive.
I think the media also sets up unrealistic expectations in ordinary people with constant coverage of the rich and celebrity lifestyle ... they have a lot to answer for in addition to politicians ... it is certainly sad when people feel they have no hope for the future and when the media seem to favour pointless celebrity over and above hard working people.
take care
Mike
